Matcha has gained popularity in recent years, and it is common to find matcha latte, teas, shots, mushrooms, and desserts in stores dealing in health and wellness products. Most often matcha is confused with green tea, probably because they are extracted from the Camellia sinensis plant. However, matcha has a unique nutrient profile and grows differently.

Typically, matcha is made by covering tea plants from direct sunlight for about a month. This helps to boost amino acids and promote the production of chlorophyll. The tea leaves are then harvested and ground into a powder called matcha.
